Writings:  Gregory Freeman  (1956-2002)  - Posted 10/22/2005 & 12/26/2011.  Updated 8/19/2013:  267 columns

Gregory Freeman's columns, which were published in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch from 1989 to 2002, cover a broad range of topics, presented with humanity, wisdom and humor.
Sixty-five (65) of them are published in the book: "Greg Freeman: a gentleman, a gentle man. Selected Columns, St. Louis Post-Dispatch", 2003.  Three (3) of them are published in the book:, "Ain't But a Place: An Anthology of African American Writings About St. Louis", Gerald Early, 1998.  The former is available from the Post-Dispatch, and both are available from St. Louis area bookstores, and on Amazon.com.

However, the Post-Dispatch book could not possibly present all of the 1,616 columns worthy of being read.  With the permission of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, and assistance from its people, the Freeman family and friends, a selection of his columns (including many from the book), and related writings, are provided here.

[Notes:
    2. This is a work in progress, the columns posted represent almost 20% of the 1,550+ (95% of his total) read so far.
The choices include many in the book, all excerpted in the P-D's 2003 'Warmth & Wisdom' article (see link above), and selections from those published from 1989 to 2002.  I'm now reading the rest of his 2002 columns.

    3.  A list of Greg's published columns and articles was compiled.  It is
in chronological order in the PDF file format.

4. Many of Greg's early columns appeared in the "Section: WAR PAGE", the equivalent of today's Op-Ed page.]
